A small but mighty collection of thinkers, dreamers, doers, and creatives.
No–it’s just me. Your one-person creative agency.
Hello again. My name is Rohit Sabu, I’m a content creator and creative strategist with over 15 years of experience.
I graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with an MFA(Photography) in 2013.
Straight out of high-school, I dove deep into the world of commercial photography, starting off as a photo assistant, and going on to work as a professional photographer. Over the years, I’ve added video, content development, strategy, and marketing to my repertoire.
I create and execute campaigns around food, fashion, product, and editorial, with my sensibilities from each informing the others.
As a photographer and videographer, I am able to both build and execute a campaign all by myself, or use a broad set of skills to lead a team from ideation and pre-production, all the way through post-production and delivery.
My process_
-
You reach out, we talk, I go to work. We talk some more, I work some more. I present a strategy deck that goes into all the details, you get a broad and detailed overview of the shape of your campaign. This deck forms the backbone of how we plan and execute our plans for the months(or years) to come.
-
Once the deck has your sign-off, I move on to prepping for pre-production. This includes assembling a team, hiring models or location scouting, sourcing props or the right studio space. We shoot, and your campaign has come to life. Just like that.
-
We plan how to market your brand and the content we just created. This could take the shape of paid promotions on social media platforms like Instagram or TikTok, SEO for your website, or reaching out to PR and influencers. The options are endless.
FAQs
I still don’t get it, what do you do exactly?
Content Creation
Photography + Retouching
Video + Editing
Writing
Creative and Art Direction to support Content Creation
Strategy to conceptualise and create a thorough plan for how, why, and what content to produce
Marketing to understand when, where, and how to deploy the content produced
Overall, I take a very holistic approach to my work. At the end of the day, it all revolves around content, however, I believe a well-executed campaign takes a lot more than simply scheduling a shoot.
I do plenty of “just shoots” too, which I love and enjoy, because it means working with people who are far more skilled and qualified than I am, all coming together to create an incredible piece of work.
Tl;dr: The answer is yes. Get in touch, we can work it out!
But what even? How? Or why?
Believe me, I struggle with this every day myself. I picked up the camera for the first time around 2005. I fell in love with photography. Many years later I graduated with a Master of Fine Art from the San Francisco Art Institute. My fine art work uses mostly analog processes. I miss making prints in the darkroom.
I still think like an artist, a lot of thought before every commitment. Over the years, I picked up videography. My childhood spent learning and obsessing over music means I have a natural feel for rhythm. This gives my video edits cadence and momentum, without being reliant on flashy effects or the fad of the day. The photography comes naturally to me, to an extent, but the technical skills anyone can learn with some youtube and some practice.
The strategy, creative direction, and marketing skills are something I had to work on, because I just cannot stand to work on a shoot without a thorough plan in place. So oftentimes, I would just create my own briefs, moodboards, and decks just for my own use. This has now become a meaningful part of how I approach every project, and is something every client could use, when they can afford a quality creator, but not a full agency.
Who do you work with?
Everyone, tbh.
I do like to get involved at a grassroots level, where your brand is still learning to walk, and is a ways off from learning to talk. This gives me the best opportunity to use all of my skills.
I also love working with established brands, who already have SOPs in place, and large teams leading their efforts. Working with other people helps me see things in ways I could’ve never thought of myself, and is a buzz I thoroughly enjoy.
I am very flexible, and easy to work with, sometimes to my own detriment, but it’s one of my core tenets and I’m not changing that. If you are a calm, collected, and thoughtful person, with a sprinkle of humor to keep things light and lively, we will do great work together.
